Guest notes from Stéphane – April 24, 2011

Hey all!

I went up to Cabot Head last week as a “tourist” (a definitively strange feeling). When i went up the bluff, I noticed that the huge bald eagle nest was gone! Only a few sticks were left in the tree. The previous day had been extremely windy but it could have been from before as well.

However, the next day, we went back up the bluff again and the nest was half rebuilt already! in the morning, we saw the eagles breaking off dead branches a few times and carrying the sticks toward their nest. So, at least, they’re sticking to the place. They might even attempt to lay eggs, for a much delayed breeding season…

Cheers,
Stéphane
