Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory Is seeking a
Since 2001, the Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory, a nature charity, operates the unique Cabot Head Research Station located on Wingfield Basin, an Ontario Nature Reserve on the Bruce Peninsula, as a bird migration monitoring research station.
The Site Manager is an Independent Contractor representing the BPBO and supporting its initiatives, and works both off-site (via the Internet), and on-site (ususlly on weekends), or as needs warrant. The term of the contract is part-time for approximately 9 months, from mid-March to mid-December annually.
The ideal person(s) would live in the Dyers Bay or northern Bruce Peninsula area, and be a self-starter, handy doing minor repair and maintenance duties and experienced in problem solving, open to ideas, skilled and comfortable in public relations. They would report to the Board of Directors, and work with staff and volunteers during the bird-migration seasons in the spring and late-summer/fall. Physical ability for maintenance is an asset and a valid drivers license and vehicle (small truck is ideal) is necessary.
A detailed contractual agreement is available for review and may be requested via the contact below. This part-time contract is an annual contract, but a longer term is negotiable.
Contract remuneration is currently under review. The contractor is responsible for personal liability insurance.
